Some of the best days outside leave the biggest mess (memories).
Mud. Sand. Salt. Wet grass. Canoe launches. Spring trails. That's exactly what your dog's gear is built for.
One of the reasons we chose BioThane is because cleaning it takes minutes, not hours.
After Everyday Walks
If your collar or leash just has dust or light dirt:
- Rinse with warm water.
- Wipe clean with a soft cloth.
- Let it air dry.
That's it.
Unlike leather, BioThane won't absorb water or hold onto dirt.
After Muddy Adventures
For heavier dirt:
- Rinse off loose mud.
- Wash with warm water and a small amount of mild dish soap.
- Use a soft cloth or sponge to remove stubborn dirt.
- Rinse thoroughly.
- Dry with a towel before storing.
Avoid abrasive scrub pads that could dull the finish.
Clean the Hardware
Over time, antique brass finished hardware develops character from regular use.
If you'd like to brighten it up:
- Wash with warm soapy water.
- Dry completely.
- Use a soft cloth to remove fingerprints and water spots.
We don't recommend hard metal polishes or chemicals.
What to Avoid
Don't:
- Put your gear in the washing machine.
- Use bleach or strong cleaners.
- Leave it sitting in direct sunlight for long periods.
- Store it wet inside a sealed container.
Built to Be Used
Wow don't expect our gear to stay showroom clean.
A few scratches. A little river water. Some trail dust.
Those are signs your dog is getting outside.
Clean it when it needs it, then head back to the trail.
